Corona – Green Lanes bij grensovergangen in Europa ook voor zaden en jonge planten

Gisteren is de nieuwe guideline van de Europese Commissie verschenen met betrekking tot grensverkeer. Transporteurs van plantaardig uitgangsmateriaal mogen gebruik maken van de Green Lanes. Dit is een belangrijke stap om de transportproblemen voor de sector te verminderen. Wel blijft het de vraag hoe landen dit precies gaan implementeren.

Belangrijk voor onze sector is regel 25 uit de guideline:

'To ensure the continuation of the flow of goods and materials, particularly fresh food and essential food products, live animals and feed, agricultural production inputs, medicines including veterinary medicines, personal protection equipment (PPE), and substances of human origin, and industrial inputs for production and maintenance of these processes, transport workers and operators of critical and essential supply chain services in all modes of transport should be considered as one of the priority groups – after strictly medical needs are addressed - in the distribution and allocation of personal protection equipment (PPE) such as disinfection products and gloves.'

'Agricultural production inputs' zouden naast zaden en pootgoed, zoals het ministerie stelt, ook stek van sierteelt moeten betekenen. Belangrijk is voorts dat 'operators of critical and essential supply chain services' ook (seizoens-) en grensarbeiders in de land- en tuinbouw zouden moeten inhouden.
